This curriculum consists of 17 courses discussing the coding changes and additional specificity that clinical documentation will need from providers under ICD-10. Employees will be introduced to key coding guidelines in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS, followed by an in-depth look at chapter-specific coding guidelines and nuances that may impact DRG assignment—including principal diagnosis selection, additional diagnosis reporting, and sequencing. The courses also clarify diagnoses relevant to CDI across all of the chapters in ICD-10-CM and highlight variations between ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM that impact the work of CDI specialists.

Completing these courses will give new hires and veteran coding professionals alike the tools and confidence needed for all medical and surgical specialties. These courses reflect the most current information and offer valuable continuing education credits needed to maintain credentials or to prepare for an upcoming proficiency exam.

In total, the sessions take approximately 10 hours to complete. These courses reflect the most current information and offer valuable CME credits needed to maintain credentials. Courses utilize a combination of video-based lectures, quizzes, and course-specific final exams to engage students.

Library Overview:
    • Highlights additional information needed for key diagnoses and procedures and emphasizes the impact of ICD-10 on physicians.
    • The courses use practical examples to illustrate the documentation needed.
    • Courses 1-3 provide an introduction to ICD-10 and an overview of documentation needed for common conditions seen by physicians in
       general medicine and surgical specialties.
    • Courses 6-9 are specialty-specific courses for physicians practicing in these areas. These are critical as ICD-10 requires much more detail
